Union Chill Mat Company
Union Chill Mat Company was incorporated in 1946. The
Original product was the "chill mat" which was used in the steel mills
to help cool the steel after it was produced.
Realizing the vulnerability of a single product line, the
company developed and manufacturered the famous Red Rocket heater. The Red
Rocket is a radiant spot heater that has been a mainstay in steel mills.
Its 360' radiant radiant heat helps heat the workers without heating objects in
the mills.
The Clayton Fan also was designed and incorporated into the
UCMC line to furnish steel mills with heavy-duty industrial man-cooler
fans. Its heavy-duty design helps circulate the air as well as cool
portions of the mills.
To meet demand for portable clean heat, the Ultramatic was
developed. This is an indirect-fired heater ranging from 300,000 to 2MM
BTUH. It is mounted either on wheels or a trailer and can come with a
generator or as a heater itself. This line opened the customer base to
construction companies, paint companies, special events, aircraft manufacturers,
power plants, and the military to name a few.
In the 1980's several large aircraft customers who already
used the Ultramatic had requested trailer mounted air-conditioning that could be
moved around the fuselage of the airplanes being manufactured. UCMC
developed a portable air conditioner - the A/CTM - that is used in almost every
facet of industry. UCMC manufacturers systems from 1 ton to 50 tons of air
conditioning.
Along with industrial applications, the A/CTM is very popular
for temperature control in special events. Tents, temporary and permanent
structures can be cooled or heated by the A/CTM.
UCMC remains experts in temperature control after 55 years of
business. As a manufacturer we offer options to purchase, rent, lease, or
refurbish industrial HVAC equipment.
